Lux Alptraum wrote this great piece on how Twitter has impacted the visibility of Sex Workers and how that affects us. The article also Charlotte Shane and Anlina Sheng of the Winnipeg Working Group for Sex Workers’ Rights . You can read the article
When I wrote about the Daniel Holtzclaw case for TitsandSass I was happy the piece was generally well received, but sadly there have been ignorant people who felt that including instances where Black trans women were violated somehow detracted from the article. Those people are assholes.
Daniel Holtzclaw is hopefully going to spend the rest of his natural life in jail after targeting low-income black women. If you listen to my podcast After Dark or follow me on twitter, you’ve heard about the case of serial rapist former police Oklahoma City officer Daniel Holtzclaw. I had the honor of expressing some of the many complicated feelings stirred up by this trial, its coverage and what it means for Black sex workers. Please head over to TitsandSass to read it :
So its been awhile. I’ve come down with a very bad case of “Everything I Write is Poops” but working on that to bring you guy more delicious content. If you have missed me I wanted to give you a chance to listen or read to some of my latest interviews.

This week I had the pleaser of co-hosting TWiB After Dark with the actress and TWIB contributor Pia Glenn! Let me tell ya’ll about Pia, she’s awesome she is proof that we are all made of stars. ( Of course me and you are made of that trash planet from Transformers the Movie, she is made from a planet that’s all diamonds like that episode of Dr. Who) She is genetically superior being who is gracing us with the chance to be in her presence.
Not only can you be aurally pleasured by Pia’s voice on this week’s After Dark we got to speak to some of the ladies of Everyday Whorephobia @_peech and @MeliMachiavelli. I’m so happy I was able to talk with them about the murders of
#TjhishaAndAngelia and spread the word about their memorial fund.
When I was interviewed for an article about Black sex workers last week, it wasn’t the story of an actress and her white boyfriend that was on my mind. It was the murders of
#AngeliaMangum and #TjhishaBall.

I had the distinct honor of being a panelist at this year’s Theorizing the Web conference which too place in Brooklyn NY April 25& 26th. My panel “Sex Work and the Web, was moderated by the amazing Melissa Gira Grant, author of Playing the Whore: The Work of Sex Work . My fellow panelists included Emma Caterine of Red Umbrella Project , adult film actress and writer Stoya, and CEO and owner of Hookonline Hawk Kinkaid. You can watch the panel here :
Our panel dealt with sex workers and clients adapting to new digital technology and the hardships or progress gained by moving into a digital space. We took questions both from the live audience and from twitter.

Many moons ago I got an interesting Ask in my tumblr. While this submission wasn’t actually a question so much as a person trying to BLOW MY MIND with their amazing logic. I thought I should share it.
“The porn industry is male dominated (made up primarily of male pornographers/film directors/producers/editors/casting directors) and is geared towards a straight male audience. Just because some women and some queer individuals consume pornographic content (much of which is becoming increasingly violent and aggressive, especially towards women) does not make it ‘feminist,’ or ‘ethical.'”
While I was sick about 2 months ago someone left a pretty interesting comment on one of my toy reviews. It was pretty interesting so I’ll lend my two cents.
“Hey N’Jaila, I was wondering what is your take on racism in escort communities. Sorry this isn’t on topic relative to the review, but I’ve been trying to google it since my friend was talking to me about the “no black men” policy some escorts have. I even read a blog post from a white escort, and while I know women are entitled to do what they want with their bodies and to keep themselves safe, especially in that line of work, it just seems all kind of wrong to me. I mean, we don’t even need anti-miscegenation laws or the sometimes seen lynch mobs anymore b/c people self-select, and in very predictable ways, on and off line. In blatantly racist ways. It’s just something I’ve been thinking about b/c I’ve considered escort work and it’s difficult to navigate this troubling dynamic. And of course as a black escort I’m worried if I could even make a living. Cause the discrimination goes both ways, I’d imagine white escorts get the most business in spite of age and appearance at time. Oh and I realize you may not know much about escort side of work, but it’d still like to hear based on your experience, especially as a woman of color.” Continue reading “N’jaila’s Mail Box : Sex Worker Racism”
A close friend of mine linked me to a character study that appeared on the NYTimes.com , profiling a 52 year old sex worker in Hunts Point New York. The short profile story and video (after the jump) ,in my opinion, was a rare change of narrative that most are used to when it comes to sex work in America.
The Rebel Profit has more in common with David Duke than Jesus. Watch around the 11:40 mark to hear her tell the story about “Crazy Chinaman” whose genitals are too small to use condoms. She even does the mock accent.
