Patriarchy in the Algorithms – Sexuality and Censorship Online
We’ll be discussing how sexism, misogyny, and racism are built into the biases of our digital world, and how they affect our conversations around sexuality.
Many of you have wondered why I haven’t been updating. Well I’ll tell you. I was sick and tired. Not in the angsty way. I was too poor to eat. So I was quit literally too sick and tired to do much. I have mentioned my job before and how it was somewhat terrible. I was always working a “steady” gig while I picked up freelance work. The thing with freelance is that sometimes you hit a rough patch. The money stops coming and if your steady gig can’t cover the bills your screwed. That pretty much happend to me.
Last week I started a new job. A for realzies job. I have insurance and a 401K and no one walks around with an erection nor does anyone stuff money in my panties. In fact I actually wear panties everyday! Not just panties but a pants suit. So not only do I not have to fear closing this site due to costs but I can actually realize he vision I have for this site.
I feel like Pinocchio , I’m finally a real person in the eyes of society. I’m a functioning member and not financial or social drain. I think it might come as a shock but I really never fully believed this day would come. There’s a high functioning part of my brain that is disgusted at how much my job controls my feeling of self worth, but fuck that part of my brain. Continue reading “I’m Not Dead.”

Saturday July 24, 2010 was supposed to be a fun day filled with romance, productivity and a movie premiere.
I was talking to a good friend of mine who complained that I don’t talk about myself enough on my own blog. Honestly I don’t think I’m the world’s most interesting person – but to appease a buddy I wrote and submitted a blogging story to the Black Weblogs Awards and I’d thought I’d share it with all of you.
I started BlasianBytch.com in my senior year of college. I was a broke overworked fulltime student with 3 jobs one of which was exotic dancing.
It started out as a AdultFriend Finder blog, I was a little shocked that the ramblings of a chubby co-ed stripper would be so popular with so many different types of people. I expanded to a platform that facilitated better communication and then my own domain.
I had a very interesting time talking about the humorous side of sex and sexuality for an entire year before I moved to my own domain. Writing was my way of reclaiming myself and giving myself a voice. As a professional journalist and an exotic dancer you are trained to have a certain level of detachment with your subject matter. Nothing has surprised me more since starting this blog than the amount of email I get from readers. I never really expected much feedback and I’m always happy when I get it. I have noticed somewhat of a disturbing trend in my emails. Here is a recent one.
While I absolutely love getting feedback from the people who enjoy my work, I’m going to have to ask for comments like these to stop. Poor grammar and spelling aside this email is part of a disturbing trend I see. You see this particular reader is complaining because my stories aren’t stereotypical enough.
February 14, Its nestled so innocently in what would otherwise be my favorite month. Every February of my compulsory education was spent finally learning about Black people. Growing up this was a once a year event and I was always inspired. In February I felt I had the potential to do anything, go to the moon, be president, invent the next big whatever- like all the people before me I could make my mark on the world.
