Since coming back from LA my life has been crazy, not as crazy of course as all the people affected by the earthquake and tsunami in Japan. Admittedly so, I’ve spent the last few days glued to the internet and my cell phone looking for signs of life of my loved ones and friends who were in Japan. Interestingly enough it was finally getting in contact with a man that the loathed that gave me a little bit of hope.
I had very few boyfriends in college, but the few I had made it a point to show me everything awful that can come from having a penis. I’ll just call him Y.Y. Well, Y.Y was the frist Japanese man I ever dated and I think I did so mostly because it cheesed my dad off. I got my karmic retribution for that in the form of actually having to have a relationship with Y.Y.

So as I write this I’m packing a bag and getting ready to visit my mom for 추석 or Chuseok. Its kinda like a Korean Thanksgiving sort of thing.
Seeing as my father is in France on business my mom is just using this as an excuse to get me to fly out, but I miss my Mom madly so I’ll play along. I’ll be gone from today to the 28th. Don’t worry postings will still go up!

I know I’m late in the game, as I’m based on the east coast and wasn’t able to make it to the premiere of the movie but I was able to watch webisodes. I’ll be honest I assumed that I was going to hate this. It was getting buzz like that Yellow Fever movie that everyone seemed delighted by and I wanted to set on fire. I’m happy to say that I find this series so far, engaging charming and funny.

On Tuesday, State Rep. Betty Brown (R) caused a firestorm during House testimony on voter identification legislation when she said that Asian-Americans should change their names because they’re too hard to pronounce:
“Rather than everyone here having to learn Chinese — I understand it’s a rather difficult language — do you think that it would behoove you and your citizens to adopt a name that we could deal with more readily here?” Brown said.
Brown later told [Organization of Chinese Americans representative Ramey] Ko: “Can’t you see that this is something that would make it a lot easier for you and the people who are poll workers if you could adopt a name just for identification purposes that’s easier for Americans to deal with?”
Yesterday, Brown continued to resist calls to apologize. Her spokesman said that Democrats “want this to just be about race.”
Fuck this old ass 씨발년아! As if Asian Americans are the only group whose names are difficult to pronounce. First off, Chinese Americans surnames are usually pretty easy so she sounds extra ignorant. How can she not say this is about race? Norse names , African names and slavic names are pretty hard for man Joe Six Pack American to pronounce but she only talks about Asians.
